Folkert and GFWC Scholarhsip:  $500
This scholarship offers $500 towards one two-week summer session at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in memory of Kendall Folkert. The scholarship is available to any student entering ninth grade in the fall. The applicant must demonstrate enthusiasm, ability and passion in instrumental music, choir, theatre, dance or visual arts. Formal training is unnecessary. Scholarship partner: General Federated Women's Club of Mt. Pleasant (GFWC).  Students must exhibit proof of acceptance to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.  

Stephenson Creative Writing Award:  $300
This creative writing award was established in memory of Jo Stephenson through Art Reach. Stephenson was a professional journalist employed with Central Michigan University until her death in 1991. The $300 award may be used in any way that will benefit the recipient's writing ability. Scholarship partner: Betty Stephenson.  


Class Scholarships:

Scholarships for up to $50 are available for classes.  Limit of one class scholarship per person per calendar year.  Submit a written request indicating the amount of the scholarship you are requesting and an explanation of your need to:  Art Reach of Mid Michigan, 111 E. Broadway St., Mt. Pleasant MI  48858 or email  Art Reach reserves the right to grant scholarships for amounts from $5 - $50, assuming funds are available at that time.


In 2013, over $10,000 of State money was granted to organizations for locally developed, high quality arts and cultural projects for projects and/or professional development. 2013 recipients of minigrants were Chippewa River District Library, Mid Michigan Industries, City of Mt. Pleasant, Isabella County Parks and Recreation and Pere Marquette District Library. In addition, the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum and St. John’s Episcopal Church each received Professional Development Grants.

MCACA Minigrant Program:

The Region Re-granting Minigrant Program is a grants-giving partnership funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and administered by agencies in each region of the state.  download the Minigrant requirements HERE

  • Applicants to the Minigrant Program must use the MCACA on-line application at (no www).
  • Guidelines are available on the Art Reach web site ( or by phoning 989.773.3689.
  • All Minigrant applicants who are arts and cultural organizations must participate in the Cultural Data Project,  Two years data must be submitted into the system.
  • All applicants are strongly encouraged to notify their legislators of their grant submission.  Please note that if a grant is awarded you will be required to notify your legislators of your grant award.  A copy of this letter or email must be submitted with the signed grant agreement.
