Kids & Culture

  • Hall's Lake Natural Area 11000 South Old State Road Remus, MI, 49340 United States (map)

Join the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy for Kids & Culture at Hall’s Lake Natural Area from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 11, 2024, as we explore the fascinating world of aquatic invertebrates.
Freshwater invertebrates are an essential part of ecosystems, acting as food sources and nutrient recyclers. They are also very useful biological indicators of environmental health. We will take dip net samples from wetland habitats and learn how to use a dichotomous key to identify what we find. By collecting and identifying these organisms, we can learn about the health of the ecosystem they inhabit. Wear rubber boots and clothes that you don’t mind if they get a little wet!
Participants can meet at the main parking area at Old State Rd parking area. Directions to the preserve: http://bit.ly/Halls-Lake-Natural-Area
Attendees at each Kids & Culture 2024 event will be entered into a monthly drawing for (4) day passes to the Soaring Eagle Waterpark in Mt. Pleasant.
